The hunting lodge, like the entire Hoge Veluwe, was incorporated into a foundation by the Kröller-Müller couple and is now open to the public. It was declared a Rijksmonument. Occasionally St. Hubertus is also used by the Dutch government as a guest house or for conferences. In 1946, talks on Indonesian independence took place here.

The entire building is built with bricks, some of which are glazed. In the center of the building is the all-tower tower. From here, the surrounding forest and heath landscape can be viewed as if from an oversized hide. The name St. Hubertus derives from the patron saint of hunters, Saint Hubertus, who is depicted in one of the stained glass windows of the house. The shape of the building's floor plan is inspired by a deer antler. Berlage not only designed the building, but also the entire interior. Tiles, lamps and furniture: everything has been coordinated.
