Pontremoli - shaking bridge - is the northernmost town in all of Tuscany and one of the most distinctive centers of Lunigiana. Built on a plain surrounded by hills and mountains, the city is a small jewel of artistic and monumental heritage. It is recognized by historians as the mythical Apua, the ancient capital of the Ligurian-Apuanian civilization. By crossing the medieval bridges and walking along the streets, you will find yourself in a mythical era. It is also a stop on the Via Francigena, the pilgrimage route that connects Canterbury in England with Rome.

Pontremoli is a charming village with medieval features, a crossing point of the Via Francigena. Its name derives from "Ponte tremulus", a bridge with a rather shaky construction over the Magra river which already existed at the time of the reign of Henry VI in 1165.
Worth seeing is the Pignaro castle, just outside the city and the characteristic square and the Campanone. The views to the right and left are beautiful as you pass over the Cresa bridge.

Here I like to quote from: m.visittuscany.com/de/orte/pontremoli
Pontremoli is the northernmost municipality in Tuscany and one of the most characteristic places in Lunigiana. Hills, mountains, valleys and beautiful rivers. Crossing the medieval bridges and strolling the cobbled streets is like stepping into a mythical age.
Simply wonderful 😃
