The monastery church in Frauenaurach, now a Lutheran parish church called St. Matthew, was originally the church of a Dominican convent founded in 1267. Destroyed in the Peasants' War of 1525, it was rebuilt and redesigned in the Baroque style in the 17th century. The striking onion dome was completed in 1717. Despite its original consecration to Mary, it is known as the "Frauenaurach Monastery Church."

Frauenaurach Monastery is a former Dominican convent in Frauenaurach. The Dominican convent was founded in 1267 by Herdegen von Gründlach. The original monastery was largely destroyed, the remaining remains were removed in 1862. In the interior of the church there are still a few remnants of the original church. The imposing church tower was not part of the monastery complex and was only built in 1717.
