On the occasion of the 200th birthday of the famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, a memorial stone dedicated to him was restored in the city park. Schliemann left his mark not only in Asia Minor, where he carried out numerous excavations and discovered the spectacular treasure of Priam in 1873, but also in Fürstenberg/Havel. Before his career as an excavator in Asia Minor, he began an apprenticeship as a merchant with a shopkeeper on Brandenburger Strasse in 1836 and lived here until 1841.
