In Büsum harbor you can buy fish and crabs directly from the cutter. From Büsum various excursions are offered in the Wadden Sea. The longest boat trip leads to the inshore island Helgoland.

Originally an island named Biusne, Büsen, Busen and Butzen, Büsum has been connected to the mainland since 1585. Due to the direct access to the North Sea, Büsum's history has always been influenced by fishing. The excursion and fishing port characterizes the townscape of the community and the Büsumer crabs that landed there are known nationally.
