Today's Romanesque church was built around 1200. She took over the parish of St. Gallus, which gradually fell into disrepair. The new church was dedicated to Saint Michael. The area around the church was originally a peninsula of around 75 m by 150 m through the Dorfbach and Ellerbach and could only be reached via one of the rivers. That is why it also functioned as a fortified church. Construction studies have shown that the defense tower was built in front of the church. Only the stepped coronation of the tower and the roof are from 1840.
