The church of San Tirso in Palas del Rei, dedicated to Saint Thyrsus or Thyrsus, was mentioned in the Caelicolae and is always worth a visit because of its art-historical relevance.

Vandring
Originally Romanesque, from the last third of the 12th century, only the cover of its original construction remains; it was reformed in 1955. The temple has a Latin cross floor plan with a rectangular nave, and two side chapels, in addition to the pentagonal presbytery. Next to the door, which has a semicircular arch and two archivolts on decorated capitals, there is an image of the Virgen del Socorro. The altarpiece of the main chapel is neoclassical in style.

San Tirso, Saint Tirsus / Tyrsus / Thyrsus (the name is circulated in different spellings) lived in the third century. According to tradition, he was a Roman soldier in the Theban Legion and was murdered for his faith - probably in 287 - along with other Christians under Emperor Maximianus. The feast day of Saint Tyrsus (San Tirso) in the calendar of saints is October 4th.
