Vandring
The sunsets on the reservoir are beautiful. If you have one, you should definitely take a reflex camera with you and take photos when the sky is clear - it's worth it.
Since I'm from Essen, I've had to drive for some time, but the peace and quiet and the fantastic view alone are worth making a detour here every time.

Cykling
The reservoir Haltern - officially Stevertalsperre Haltern - is a drinking water dam. The water supplies the northern Ruhr area and parts of western Münsterland. To ensure the excellent quality of the water, no motor boats are allowed on the lake. Sailing, surfing, pedal boating and swimming is allowed and very popular.

Vandring
The Haltern reservoir is easy to reach by train. Trains run every 30 minutes from Münster and Wanne-Eickel.
At the train station, just keep to the right, walk a short distance parallel to the railway line and then cross under the railway line through a small tunnel. Immediately after the tunnel, turn left. The rest of the route is self-explanatory.
