Indispensable for the Fettmarkt and Mariä-Himmelfahrts-Kirmes, but also a very nice way to cross the Ems is the Teufelsbrücke. It leads the promenade over the Ems on to the attempted walls and stories on this subject. Historians like to attribute names of buildings to people. In this context the Düwel family should be mentioned, who were very influential in Warendorf in the 15th - 16th centuries. If this initiated the construction of the bridge or owned land in this area, the naming for this bridge would be easy to explain: "Düwel" later became "Deibel" and finally "Teufel".
