A small stone marks the geographic center of Baden-Württemberg south of Böblingen. This is the mean of the northernmost, easternmost, southernmost and westernmost extreme values that Baden-Württemberg has to offer. These are the town of Wertheim in the north, the community of Dischingen in the east, the community of Grenzach-Wyhlen in the south and the community of Efringen-Kirchen in the west. In addition, there are a number of other methods of investigation that do not come out here in the middle of the forest south of Böblingen.

The mean of the geographical latitude of the northernmost and southernmost point and the mean of the geographical longitude of the easternmost and westernmost point is calculated as 48 ° 39 '43' 'North and 9 ° 00' 14 '' East. That is the center of Baden-Württemberg.

In contrast, the center of Baden-Württemberg in Tübingen was calculated using the center of gravity method. This method can be imagined in such a way that the punched-out land mass of Baden-Württemberg can be balanced at this point
