Ein etwas vernachlässigter, aber schöner Radweg durch den Wald.
Russendorp is located in a tapered section of Bergeijkse Heide that formerly belonged to the former Dutch municipality of Luyksgestel, but was exchanged with Belgium in 1843 for a strip of Bladelse Heide. A small settlement arose of people who started to mine the heath there but were so far from their villages that they built temporary houses of turf, consisting of pitrus. These rush or pitrus sods are called 'Russians' in Dialect. So the name has nothing to do with residents of Russia.
