Inslach’ means reclamation. The name already reveals that De Inslag (165 ha) has not always been a forest. The heathland was reclaimed as arable and pasture land. With the construction of a castle domain in the 19th century, the area was forested until it became a lush hunting backdrop. During the world wars, it was an open battlefield again. After the last war, there was a strong focus on timber production. Now the Agency for Nature and Forests carries out extensive nature management, which benefits biodiversity. You can now also enjoy nature to the full as a walker and cyclist.
