Adventures on Sgùrr
Dubh Mòr take you to a ‘Big Black Peak’ of dark gabbro and stunning vistas. It
seems that when it was named, those who did so clearly didn’t want to
distinguish it from the others surrounding it. There are a lot of big black
peaks in Skye’s Cuillin.
Fortunately, this
mountain distinguishes itself and hikes to Sgùrr Dubh Mòr are up there with the

Sgurr Dubh Mor is a 3,097-foot (944 m) Munro on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands. We approached from Sgurr nan Eag to Sgurr Dubh Mor via Sgurr Dubh an Da Bheinn on the most glorious of sunny early autumn days. We were guided by Adrian Trendall of allthingscuillin.co.uk and although we didn't need the rope to climb this Munro, having his guidance to pick the best way along the ridge was very reassuring.
