The church was constructed using cloisonné masonry (a mixed brick and stone construction), with the west side consisting of dressed stone.
It is a church with a free cruciform ground plan and a narthex, which forms a two-part ambulatory around the western transept. It has a dome with an octagonal drum.

Inside, there are two layers of wall paintings. The older layer survives only in fragmentary form.
The north chapel is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and depicts scenes from his life.
The south chapel was originally a funerary chapel and contains depictions with eschatological (end-times) themes.
The church is now located in the middle of the local cemetery of Manolada.
