Visible from afar, located on a hill outside Udenheim, it is also called the nave in the sea of vines, as the vineyards reach right up to the churchyard wall.
The Romans already left traces here: They erected a Jupiter column, of which a stone has been preserved, on which the god Mercury is depicted, among other things, and Roman ceramics and coins have also been found here. Even the Celts are said to have had a place of worship at this location. Finds indicate human settlement in the area since the Neolithic period.
