You can get a good overview of the development of the field and industrial railways in Lower Austria in the museum of the same name in Freiland. Over 50 locomotives and 180 different wagons from the late 19th century to the present are shown. On some days, some of the vehicles are still in use on the museum's demonstration track.

The field and industrial railway museum was founded as a private association over 50 years ago.

The museum offers a representative overview of the development of field and industrial railways from the end of the 19th century to the present. The collection consists of over 50 locomotives and over 180 different wagons. Most of them have a track width of 600 mm.

The track systems in the outdoor area, currently total length around 500 m, show the types of superstructures used on various field and industrial railways. This also includes various switch designs, turntables and three and four-rail tracks.
