On the broad ridge of the Small Ettersberg, the bear-hill bears trees east of the village. It is the last hill of a former very powerful grave mound, which was removed. An excavation was carried out by Vulpius on behalf of Goethe. The place was used since the Neolithic as a burial ground and cult place. (Wikipedia)
From here you have - weather permitting - a wonderful panoramic view to Finn and Kyffhaeuser mountains in the north, in the south to foothills of the Thuringian Forest.

This is a landmark on a plateau used for arable farming.
The area called Bear Hill is not spectacular in itself. There, however, excavations on early history in Thuringia were successful.
