The strong growth in tourism in the 20th century resulted in the emergence of urban structures in Oberstdorf. Holiday apartments, hotels, restaurants and shops line up next to each other today. Nevertheless, the village character was preserved. Even in the town center there are still a few farms to be seen in the pedestrian zones.
