At the site of today's Dammsmühle Palace, there was already a mill in the 16th century, acquired in 1755 by the Berlin leather manufacturer Peter Friedrich Damm. He erected the building of the Dammsmühle Palace as a two-storey palace.
After the end of the war in 1945, the castle was occupied by the Red Army. In 1959 the East German Stasi took over the house and used it as a hunting lodge until 1989. After reunification, the castle served as a hotel for a short time.
Unfortunately, today it is a ruin with an uncertain future

Dammsmühle Castle is an empty baroque palace right on the mill pond. Although a renovation would certainly not be a bad idea, it still exudes an incomparable charm. The list of former residents ranges from Napoleon, the SS to the Red Army. The location in the middle of three lakes is also predestined to be explored and is highly recommended - not least because of its proximity to Berlin.

It has an eventful history: after it was built in 1768, SS chief Himmler used it, and during the GDR era the Stasi ran a language school here.
Since then, several attempts at renovation have failed. In 2019, new investors - including Borchardt boss Mary - took over the site and want to set up a luxury hotel with restaurants. (morgenpost.de/brandenburg/article216704603/Schloss-Dammsmuehle-So-soll-die-Ruine-zum-Luxushotel-haben.html)
