The Trutzsch is a waypoint on the new hike, the Archaeopfad-Dresden. From this viewing hill you have a nice view over Dresden.

The Trutzsch is a 200 meter high mountain above Nickern. At the top of the mountain is a small viewing hill, from which you have an excellent all-round view of the Dresden Elbe valley when the weather is good. Before the Christianization of the Sorbs, there is said to have been a Sorbian fortified castle on the Trutzsch. Behind the mountain, the old Postweg runs from Nickern, coming from Dresden via Sobrigau, Babisnau and further to Bohemia. stadtwikidd.de/wiki/Trutzsch

The hill, approximately 200 meters high, was formed around 95 million years ago when the Cretaceous sea deposited Pläner (calcareous sandstone) and sandstone. In 1939, during the construction of a parade ground, several urn graves dating from 1300 BC onwards were discovered. The Trutzsch has only been accessible to the public again since the end of its military use in 1995. From the viewing platform, one is rewarded with a view through the trees and bushes over Nickern and Prohlis, all the way to the opposite bank of the Elbe River.
