07/16/2023 - The Fountain of Loyalty goes a little further. It has been in the small square since June 2003. The three figures symbolize loyalty (1277), patriotism (1921) and freedom (1989):
• Judge István – Sopron's first known judge – holds the city's symbolic key in his left hand.
• DR. Mihály Sopronyi-Thurner – the city's famous mayor – holding a ballot paper.
• The female liberty figure holds a piece of the Iron Curtain that divided Europe in two for decades.
