The church stands on a hill in the Ising district and is therefore visible from afar (especially when approaching from the north). According to the oldest documented records of the church in "Ysing" from 1384 and 1389, the original building must have been erected in the first half of the 14th century. The tower on the south side of this building still stands. The single-nave building with its onion dome retains its late Gothic appearance but was later redesigned in the Baroque style.
