The 'Chnebelburg' on the Jäissberg near Bellmund (or Jens or Jäiss as they say here) was once a castle complex made of earth and wood, which dates from the High Middle Ages. It was surrounded by an earth wall with a palisade. The complex apparently disappeared as early as the 13th century because it was not renovated with stone like many other castle complexes.
You don't see much on site anymore, but you can still visualize it as it was. A place steeped in history on the inconspicuous Jaissberg.

Remains of an old wood and earth castle from the high Middle Ages.
Similar to the system in nearby Aarberg. Unfortunately, besides the earth wall, there is not much to see, but it is still an interesting place to stay.
