The shaft barrier near Gunzenhausen was in the Altmühl barrier line. It was made necessary by the construction of the Altmühlsee, which, in conjunction with the Brombach reservoir, was intended to improve the water management situation in Franconia. The facility, built in 1984 with the object number WUG-0010, is located in the southern abutment of the Altmühlsee outlet structure. It consists of 25 80 cm deep and 40 cm wide plug-in shafts embedded with the same surface in a 1 m thick concrete slab.
