The city-owned site of the Old Apple Garden, on the way to the Prince's Island, has been leased by the association since 2006. Due to the completely overgrown area, largely covered by forest growth, as well as unclear ownership and the right of various authorities to have a say, the revitalization in accordance with historical preservation requirements was very complex. In addition to intensive volunteer work in the practical and planning areas, it also required financial support from various institutions. In 2011, the pavilion was inaugurated at the historic site.

Vandalism on the Prince's Island is an issue that has primarily occurred in connection with events and the walking path around the island. Damage, particularly on the beach path, has been frequently reported. The city of Plön is committed to combating vandalism and has, for example, repaired the jetty at the Prince's Island bathing area, which had previously been damaged by wind and weather.
