The Swedish graves on Herzogsweg can only be found by the initiated. In winter the entrenchments from the Thirty Years' War can at least be guessed at. It remains to be seen how many slain lay there. Thirty human skulls were found there in the 1950s and apparently had been smashed. A memorial stone by the wayside commemorates the events of the siege of Wolfenbüttel in 1641

On June 19, 1641, according to the inscription on the memorial stone, there was a battle between Imperial Bavarian and Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War.
