The Lebensgemeinschaft e.V. Sassen and Richthof form an integrative community in the two villages of Sassen and Richthof. People with and without a need for help live together in extended families or other forms of housing, work together in various businesses belonging to the two villages and help each other, according to their individual abilities, in the organization and administration of the village communities.
Admission: People who, due to a mental disability, are entitled to help to reintegrate into social and professional life are admitted to the community.

In the two villages of Sassen and Richthof, around 250 men and women with intellectual disabilities currently live in 26 large families. In such an extended family, there are 4 to 12 cared-for people, the house parents, their children if necessary, and 1 to 2 volunteers.
An essential task of community life is the creation of a diverse cultural life. This also includes practicing social skills and looking for new, contemporary forms of community.

Leisure activities include: choir, orchestra, folk dance, eurythmy, painting, theater, concerts, lectures as well as swimming, hiking, gymnastics, sport and the like.
