The powder cave - the name comes from the explosive powder previously stored there - is located opposite the village on the western slope of the Gampel mountain. If you cross the railway line on the pedestrian bridge and then take the path that runs at the foot of the slope to the left, after approx. 80 m you reach the first group of rocks, there you climb up the slope to the right and meet a path at the foot of the rock which leads diagonally upwards to a rock face with the cave crowned with a rock needle.

Steep ascent but exciting to see and a bench nearby invites you to look over the Altmühl and Breitenfurt. Flashlight is helpful for a deeper look. The cave is worth seeing but only a few meters accessible.

This gem is worth climbing a few meters away from the path. Great view in front of the cave of Breitenfurt and Urdonautal. And if you are not afraid, crawl a few meters into the cave - a great experience for children too
