The castle was first mentioned at the beginning of the 16th century and is an important testimony to Saxon castle architecture. Unfortunately, the castle is currently (late 2020) not open to the public. The gatehouse and the farm building (garden house) also belong to the complex. Below the castle are the remains of the manor, which is now used as a residential building.

The Taubenheimer Schloss is originally a Renaissance building from the 16th century. In the 19th and 20th centuries, however, major structural changes took place and today neo-Gothic styles can be seen. It was last used as a retirement home, but has been empty since 2001.

Taubenheim Castle (Klipphausen).

Information:

It was built around 1600 and remodeled in the Baroque style around 1700. Further alterations and additions were made in the 19th and early 20th centuries, incorporating Art Nouveau and Neo-Gothic architectural elements.

Current use: Since the senior citizens moved out, it has been vacant. Despite the overall good condition of the building structure, the castle is increasingly suffering from the effects of vacancy.
