Once you've climbed through the forest, a completely different landscape opens up on the Ith ridge! The expansive Ith meadows with the airfield offer panoramic views and, of course, something to look at during flight operations. ☺️

Since 1930, people have been gliding on the "Wasserkuppe Norddeutschlands". This makes the Ithwiesen one of the most traditional glider airfields in Germany. The visitor has, for example, from the benches on the hill, excellent opportunities to observe the glider launches. The further flight, when the planes make their rounds in front of the Hils, can be followed well. A visit can also be combined with a visit to the nearby Rothestein Cave and some other Ith rocks.
