Mountain Biking Collection by SaalfelderFeengrotten

The tour options on the Kulm, whose striking, white Kulmberghaus is an eye-catcher in the Saale Valley, are very diverse. This is due to the dense network of trails, which are frequented by hikers, especially on weekends. That demands a lot of consideration. Alternatively, you can also do the tour during the week. The climb to the Kulmturm is worthwhile because of the 360-degree panorama. The first trail round on the Kulm then leads over the Kame panoramic view down to Oberpreilipp. If you already know the further route over the Schillerhöhe, you can shorten it here and drive directly to the Saale via Unterpreilipp. You return to Remschütz on the Saale Cycle Path.In the village of Remschütz, you can decide whether you want to continue the second trail variant today or ride on another day - for example as a small after-work lap. If you decide to do it, it goes up again via Dorfkulm on a neat tar ramp. This is never heavily driven by cars, so you can cycle here in a relaxed manner. The second trail begins as a sharp turn trail and then leads you directly through the Melktal down to the Saaleradweg. From there it is only a few hundred meters to Remschütz. For a relaxed end to your day, you can drive directly to the Saale beach in Remschütz and stretch your legs there.

On this tour you will explore the surrounding area in the city triangle of Saalfeld, Rudolstadt and Bad Blankenburg. Crunchy climbs, exciting root trails and great views await you.The journey on the Saale Cycle Path starts at the caravan parking lot next to the Saalfeld outdoor pool and is a relaxed curl up via Remschütz to Volkstedt. Below the Kulm in Preilipp, things get down to business for the first time. The small and short ramps on the way to the Schillerhöhe with the beautiful view of Heidecksburg Castle are the perfect setting for even more trail fun. After passing through the peaceful village of Zeigerheim, the long and steep ramp at the Liske follows. The reward for the sweaty affair are the trails with root passages on the Kessel and Gölitz walls with sensational views of the Thuringian mountains. At the Fröbeldenkmal you will reach a place steeped in history. At this vantage point, the wonderful term “kindergarten” was coined, which has found its way into the world.Friedrich Froebel (1782–1852) developed the concept of the kindergarten by assigning educational value to play as a typical child-like way of life. The kindergarten differed from the "child custody institutions" that existed in the 19th century in the underlying pedagogy, which was expanded to include education, upbringing and care. The first was created in Bad Blankenburg in 1840.In the small village of Großgölitz, there is a reason for the short detour: The detour takes you past the open-air exhibition of one of Germany's most successful chainsaw artists. Florian Lindner likes to choose unusual motifs and his fast-paced wooden sculptures captivate with their wit and richness of detail. In Bad Blankenburg, a detour to the Chrysoprase weir on the Schwarza is a must. At the end of the tour, seasoned with small trail sections, it goes to the mouth of the Schwarza in the Saale. You shouldn't miss the beautiful photo motif. The round tour ends in Remschütz. From there it goes on the Saale cycle path back to the starting point of the tour.

Like all MTB tours around Saalfeld, this tour scores with panoramas. This time with the highlight Eisenberg, the highest point in the immediate vicinity of Saalfeld. The summit cross is unique in the region. The tour is just right for you if you enjoy single trails with tight switchbacks. You can find them at the beginning on Röderberg near Unterwirbach, here still in homeopathic dosage. After the driveway via Oberwirbach, the concentrated load follows. From the Hainberg down into the Schwarzatal it's almost 200 meters of the finest zigzag trail. The trail is not roughly blocked, but rather fluid, so that you can use the rear wheel offset well - in whatever technical variant. In Bad Blankenburg, a detour to the Chrysoprase weir on the Schwarza is a must. The popular photo motif is always an eye-catcher. If you haven't had enough, you can take the direct ascent to the Kulm from Remschütz and take the trail descent through Melktal with you. Otherwise your tour ends in Saalfeld with a cool drink.
