With over 220 kilometres (136 miles) of cross-country trails, the region offers great skiing for both skating and cross-country skiers of all abilities and ages. With a little luck, you may even meet some of the international Nordic skiing elite on the slopes. There are several cross-country skiing schools in the region that have been awarded the Styrian cross-country seal of approval award. Oh, and last but not least, you can find the longest glacier trail in the world here!

This Collection brings you closer to this winter wonderland with 13 great cross country ski circular trails. Ranging in length, difficulty and altitude, the routes showcase the incomparable mountains of Schladming-Dachstein. Every now and then, you can pause for a hot drink at one of the many eateries right by the cross-country trail. If you’d prefer not to fasten your skis, you can also use your fat bike or snowshoes here.

    Dachstein Runde

    Cross-Country Skiing Highlight

    Around 30 kilometers total length, prepared for classic and skating - this is what awaits you on the Dachstein Runde. Here, at the Ramsau Ort cross-country stadium, is the start and end of the wonderful round tour.

    The route takes you through all the districts of Ramsau and gives you unique views of the Dachstein massif and the Schladminger Tauern along the way. As the longest cross-country ski run in the region, it is not only popular with "long-term skiers" - cross-country skiers also get their money's worth thanks to the many bankers who invite you to linger and enjoy on the way! 😊

    Tip for a stop: the sun terrace or the rustic parlor at the Frienerhof. Whether fragrant Kaiserschmarren, homemade pastries, the juicy Frienerwürschtl or a warming soup - everything here is really homemade and 100% organic. Many of the ingredients come directly from the company's own farm, and particular attention is paid to regionality and the best quality for those foods that are bought in.

    Halserloipe

    Cross-Country Skiing Highlight

    Around ten perfectly groomed, classic kilometers - that's what the Halser trail awaits. You are standing here right at the start and end point of the wonderful tour.

    From the cross-country stadium to the Greimelbacherhof, the trail is relatively flat, and you only have to master a small ascent behind the Ederhof. The beautiful view of the Dachstein massif pays off all the effort. Arrived at the Halseralm, you can then enjoy the idyllic alpine peace and a unique panorama of the Schladminger Tauern.

    Tip for a stop: the more than 400 year old Halseralm. Located at over 1,100 meters above sea level, you are served delicious flambéed Kaiserschmarren. The many animals that are at home on the Alm make the excursion twice as beautiful.

    Cross-Country Skiing Highlight

    Around three kilometers, on which both classic and skating cross-country skiers can let off steam. Even when it's dark outside.

    Here you can really escape from everyday life! In the evening you will only meet a few like-minded people on the night trail in the cross-country skiing stadium in Ramsau am Dachstein, who like you, love the peace and quiet.
