This panoramic circular route takes you through the Würzburger Stein vineyard, the largest single vineyard in Germany. While you stroll through the romantic landscape, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city. The four-kilometer circular route starts at the Weingut am Stein, where you can also park.While you wander through the wonderful landscape, you will come across information boards that tell you more about viticulture in the region: from an excursion into the history of the individual grape varieties to the role of wine in the church. The highlight of the path is the “terroir f” vantage point, from which you have a fantastic view of Würzburg and the leisurely flowing Main. The view from here is particularly beautiful on a sunny autumn day when the colorful leaves of the vines literally shine.On the way you can either take a break in the chic Schlosshotel Steinburg or at the end of your round in the Weingut am Stein you can buy a typical Bocksbeutel as a souvenir.You can easily reach the starting point of the hike from downtown Würzburg. The winery is only one kilometer away from the main train station.
Marienberg Fortress towers high above the university town of Würzburg, surrounded by picturesque vineyards - a wonderful destination for your discovery tours through the city. This almost seven-kilometer round tour starts at the western end of the Old Marienbrücke.The climb up to the fortress is not long in coming. For this you will arrive at the top, rewarded with a fantastic view of Würzburg, the Main and the surrounding landscape. Stroll through the 1,300 square meter Fürstengarten or discover the magnificent complex on a guided tour.You continue downhill through the vineyards, before you master the next, short climb up to the pilgrimage church of the Visitation, or Käppele for short. It is worth pausing here for a moment. Take a look at the ceiling frescoes inside the church and let the tranquility of the place affect you. From Nikolausberg you also have another great view of Würzburg's old town.If your stomach is rumbling by now, you can stop off at the nearby Schützenhof. There the path makes a turn and leads you back to your starting point on the banks of the Main.

On this almost ten kilometer hike you will discover the Nikolausberg, walk through the wooded Steinbachtal and further along the river through the Main meadows. Full of enjoyment of nature, easy to reach from downtown Würzburg. Your excursion into the countryside begins at the Alte Marienbrücke in the old town.You walk past the St. Burkard Basilica and on to the Käppele pilgrimage church. On your way up to Nikolausberg you will pass several stations that deal with the Way of the Cross. Once at the top of the church, you can take a breather and let your gaze wander over the old town of Würzburg.Then you hike a bit through the forest to the Frankenwarte observation tower. The 40 meter high tower stands on the highest point of Nikolausberg. The viewing platform offers you a magnificent panoramic view of Würzburg and the region.After you have enjoyed the panoramic view extensively, you continue hiking through the picturesque Steinbachtal. You walk on a well-developed hiking trail in a large arc through the beautiful landscape until you reach the banks of the Main again. If you want to take a break, you can fortify yourself in the beer garden of the Zollhaus. Then you cross the Main on the Sebastian-Kneipp-Steg and stroll along the Main meadows back towards the city center.
Out of the city and into the countryside: On this almost 14-kilometer hike you immerse yourself in the beautiful nature around Würzburg, peppered with wonderful views of the old town of Würzburg. The starting point of the tour is at the Old Marienbrücke in the city center.The first green highlight awaits you right at the beginning: The path leads you through the beautifully landscaped park, which was created as part of the State Garden Show in 1990. You stroll through the park and up the mountain to the Marienberg Fortress. Once at the top, you've earned your first promising break.Then, through the steep vineyards, it goes downhill again, past the Burkard church and a little later up to the Käppele pilgrimage church. The next lookout stop is guaranteed here. Shortly afterwards the path leads you past the Schützenhof, where you can stop off. Freshly strengthened, you continue through the idyllic Anna Gorge and then through the peaceful Steinbachtal.Soon you will cross the Main and walk along the bank through the Main meadows back to the Old Marienbrücke. Back at the starting point, you will find several restaurants for a cozy end, including Franconian specialties.
Off to the forest! On this twelve-kilometer hike you will explore the Würzburg city forest. Perfect for leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind for a few hours and enjoying the fresh forest air. The tour starts at the former customs house at the entrance to the Steinbachtal.At the beginning, the path leads you through the picturesque valley, past the monument in honor of the poet Friedrich Schiller. You walk through the valley on a well-developed hiking trail and then turn into the Würzburg city forest a little later. The area is 1,000 hectares and is a popular excursion destination on the outskirts of the city.In the forester's house Guttenberg you can take a break and strengthen yourself. Shortly before that, the path leads you past a wooden observation tower, which is striking due to its special construction. It continues comfortably through the forest before you soon reach your destination Reichenberg.From Reichenberg you can take the 311 bus from the Forsthaus Guttenberg or Reichenberg / Dorflinde stop to Würzburg-Heidingsfeld. Change there to tram line 3 or 5 and continue to Würzburg city center.
In Würzburg you can expect a diverse mix of landscape parks and park forests, gardens in the state horticultural show grounds and green spaces on the banks of the Main. Shortly afterwards, the path leads you to the Ringpark, which spans the baroque old town from the Friedensbrücke to the Löwenbrücke.On your way through the park you will collect Mediterranean flair in Little Nice and stroll past the steles of the Würzburg Nobel Prize winners to the banks of the Main. Along the Mainkai you then cover the last part of the way until you reach the Alte Mainbrücke. There you turn left into the old town and make a stop at the cathedral before you look for a cozy café to end your walk.
