Frankenhöhe, Steigerwald, Windsheimer Becken and Fränkisches Seenland - Nuremberg is surrounded by a true paradise for nature lovers. Whether on foot or by bike: numerous signposted paths lead you through the varied nature. In the north, narrow river valleys and magnificent views are tempting. In the east you will discover exciting rocks and primeval rock formations. In the south you cycle along splashing rivers over gentle hills. And in the west, the Aischgrund with its endless pond and basin landscape stretches out.

You see, the offer is almost limitless. So that you can spend your weekends not with research, but directly in nature, we have selected the latest VGN recreational tips for hiking and cycling. On a total of eleven tours we lead you to the most lonely valleys, the most beautiful views, the quietest forests and – not to forget – to the most rustic inns and beer gardens.

And because a Franconian meal must not be without a beer, you don't need a car for any of our tours. All eleven routes can be easily reached by bus and train from Nuremberg – so your journey to the trailhead will already be a pleasure.

The Karst Trail around Neuhaus an der Pegnitz has existed since 1936. On a twelve-kilometer route, you will discover the typical karst formations of the Pegnitz region: caves, caves, rock formations and rock faces line the trail. The highlight of the tour is a guided tour along the stalactites in the Maximilians grotto. Your round trip will be rounded off with a hearty stop at Gasthof Grottenhof.

Around the market, quiet forests and wide fields also lure to leisurely day trips. Here we have chosen a hike from Weinzierlein to Cadolzburg, which leaves plenty of time for sightseeing.
