There are nine themed circular walks around Baiersbronn and its sub-villages. Each route boasts beautiful scenery but differs from one another in terms of character and requirements. Discover the diversity of Baiersbronn's hiking heaven on these sky trails.

Immerse yourself in the unique cirque landscape of the Black Forest. During the Würm Ice Age, the hanging glaciers dug deep into the soft, red sandstone. You can still see their traces today in the form of karstic lakes, which lie enclosed between steep karstic walls and in whose dark water the sky is reflected. You can visit some of these lakes, such as the legendary Huzenbacher Lake or the picturesque Sankenbach Lake, on the Tours in this Collection. And where the mountains are steep, waterfalls are not far away. Particularly after rainfall, the streams in the region swell and waterfalls, such as the mighty Rosshimmel, become a rushing natural wonder.

If you get hungry between all the marvelling and discovering, you'll find plenty of scenic picnic spots along the way. On some of the Tours, there are also places to stop for refreshments. However, we advise you to pack a small picnic and enough drinks.

You’ll need sturdy shoes, because the narrow paths and tracks can get slippery, stony or steep from time to time; waterproofs, so that you’re well prepared for a sudden change in the weather; and a dose of the spirit of discovery. The starting points of the 11 – 21 kilometre (7 – 13 mi) long circular Tours are easy to reach by public transport. So, what are you waiting for? An exciting adventure lies ahead of you in the northern Black Forest.

Once there were around 60 cirque lakes in the Baiersbronn region, more than anywhere else in Central Europe. The Karseen have their origins in the Würme Ice Age, when small hanging glaciers carved their way deep into the red sandstone, creating what is now the steep Karwalls. The lakes are now often referred to as the “dark eyes of the …
