Feel the Flow in Heidiland in Switzerland

Mountain Biking Collection by Bosch eBike Systems

Heidiland, named after Johanna Spyri’s famous Heidi story, sounds so beautifully innocent. Yet in reality, the region is an outdoor mecca with fierce mountains that is unequalled in Switzerland. Here, you will find crisp single trails, steep passes, and some of the most impressive panoramas in the Alps If you are looking for uphill flow on your e-bike, then this is the place for you.

The region has a lot to discover so you may want to plan a few rest days between your rides. For example, the spa town of Bad Ragaz, the deep blue waters of Lake Walen, and numerous side valleys such as the Tamina Valley all lie en route. The Bosch e-bike charging station is conveniently located at the Taminaltherma spa in Bad Ragaz. You can recharge your batteries in the thermal waters whilst your bike charges outside.

In this Collection, we've selected eight day rides for you, ranging from a relaxed panoramic trip to an uphill single trail challenge. You can choose your adventure and either way – we hope you have an amazing time!

Round tour with a spectacular transition over the wild and pristine Palfries plateau. With an altitude of 1,400 meters you can work up a sweat even with an electric drive, but you will be rewarded with the view of the fjord-like Walensee and the rugged mountain peaks in the Speer-Churfirsten-Alvier area. The start and destination of this tour is the historic town of Sargans at the foot of the Gonzen, where iron ore was mined for a long time. Today it houses an interesting show mine with a restaurant. After you have briefly touched the Rhine, you pedal steadily uphill from Trübbach, mostly on a paved road.Above Labria, the landscape changes suddenly. After a short time you reach the Palfries plateau and are overwhelmed by the panorama. Now you drive along the foot of the Alvier chain and overlook the entire Heidiland holiday region with the Sarganserland, the Walensee and the Churfirsten. An almost 600-year-old town hall of the free Walsers testifies to the former settlement on Palfries, which you can visit today as a museum. The mountain restaurants Palfries and Stralrüfi are ideal for a break up here in the picturesque landscape. The descent begins with a beautiful single trail and continues on an alpine road through beautiful natural landscapes. From the historic Kurhaus Sennis you continue via Valaschga, past the Hagerbach test gallery and after crossing the motorway back to Sargans.

A varied day tour that takes you through the wonderful alpine landscape on the Flumserberg and ends with a great single trail descent through the beautiful Schilstal valley. The 1,440 vertical meters are easy to master thanks to the electric drive on the bike, you only need your technical skills downhill. The route leads past the Gräpplang castle ruins and along a quiet side street via the hamlet of Fäsch to Bergheim. Now you follow the mountain road to Tannenheim, before you turn to Cafrida and shortly after you reach the skiing and hiking area Flumserberg. At Cafrida you follow the nature path, which later flows into the mountain road to the Prodalp plateau. The beautiful raised bog offers a magnificent view of the Sarganserland and the Churfirsten. The mountain restaurant of the same name has a large sun terrace and is perfect for recharging the (inner) batteries before you continue on the forest road to Panüöl. An impressive mountain panorama awaits you there and the onward journey to Alp Fursch is a real panoramic delight. The subsequent downhill through the Furschwald is particularly challenging in wet conditions, but is still a lot of fun. We continue along the Schilsbach, which you cross at Bildbrugg. On a flowing forest trail you reach Portels and before you know it you are back in Flums.

The bike tour over the Kunkel fun is a real classic that connects the spa town of Bad Ragaz with Tamins. At the same time, you completely circle the Calanda. At 1,090 meters above sea level, this tour is a moderate challenge for e-bikers - the distance of 63 kilometers, however, is already more demanding. How good that you start in Bad Ragaz with a full battery! From Bad Ragaz you first follow the pass route, which was already used by the Romans, steadily increasing to the spa town of Valens. From there it goes rather flat over a bridge almost 100 meters high to Vasön and down to the Mapragg reservoir. In front of the dam you branch off to the right and drive along the lakeshore before you meet the main road again at the end of the lake.We continue to Vättis through a wild valley basin with mountain slopes rising almost vertically on both sides. The final ascent to the pass now runs away from traffic in an untouched, grandiose landscape. Shortly after the Eggwald mountain restaurant (which is perfect for a short or long break) you leave the canton of St.Gallen and you are now in Graubünden, before the pass.At the transition from the Tamina to the Rhine valley, you can experience how great the landscape differences are on both sides of the watershed. The last descent to Tamins is a biker delight with a view of the confluence of the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein.

The Pizol Challenge is a first-class fitness test. 1,100 vertical meters from Bad Ragaz to the Pardiel viewing terrace on the Pizol followed by a descent await ambitious e-bikers with calf fat. The climbs have some really steep ramps in their luggage, which you will be grateful for any support for - but for this tour you have a great chance of real uphill flow over beautiful single trails with the usual great view. You start in Bad Ragaz on a moderately steep and easily navigable small mountain road to Pardiel. On the way there are magnificent views of the Seeztal, Rhine Valley, Liechtenstein and the Bündner Herrschaft. Once on the Pardiel viewing terrace, you can recharge your batteries in one of the mountain inns with inviting menus and drinks and enjoy the view. The panorama from the nearby Prodkopf viewpoint is particularly beautiful. The descent follows a funny forest trail to Muttberg. From there, a forest path leads through the forest landscape back to the spa town of Bad Ragaz. If you want, you can immerse yourself in the soothing thermal water of the Tamina Therme after your tour and relax there for the rest of the day.

The majority of the route runs on nature trails and is made for e-bikers who are looking for uphill flow. You start in Bad Ragaz and first drive comfortably warm through the Sarganserland with a view of the dominating Gonzen. The ascent begins at Wangs and leads to the Unter Precht alp on the left edge of the Weisstannental. There you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the Weisstannental. The Foostock, part of the "Tectonic Arena Sardona", a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is enthroned in the distance.Through magnificent forests and lush pastures you reach the highest point of the tour, the Alp Gamidaur. The following descent is the real highlight of this route: Accompanied by a few of the most beautiful panoramas in the area (Churfirsten, Alvier, Sarganserland, Rhine Valley) you roll through wildly overgrown landscapes and forests over nature trails, mountain roads, a beautiful single trail and finally at the ruin Freudenberg past back to Bad Ragaz.

This tour takes you to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region. In addition, you will be rewarded with a challenging single-track downhill to the Rhine after the ascent. Except for a few short sections, the tour is completely passable - and thanks to the electric drive you have the sliding passages loosely in the cross. In the spirit of the uphill flow, the driveway is not for organic bikers, but is supposed to challenge you on an eBike and at the same time paint a grin on your face. The air really only stays away from you on the summit. The view of the vineyards of the Bündner Herrschaft and the Rhine Valley is simply breathtaking. The downhill trail, which leads through numerous steep hairpin bends from the Vorder Ochsenberg via Türlis to Fläsch, is no less exciting. If you are not in the mood for a technical descent, you can look forward to the equally great alternative route, which bypasses the Schnielkopf and, after a short counter climb, finally leads down over Halden to the Feldrüfi stream.

From Schiers you roll flat and comfortable to Pragg Jenaz. This is where the steep and paved ascent to the pretty mountain village of Furna begins.
