The strenuous ascent on the Lusen passes through the varied nature impressions as if in flight. The lively mountain stream Kleine Ohe, the idyllic Martinsklause and the legendary Teufelsloch lie on our way before the steep sky ladder leads us straight to the Lusengipfel strewn with boulders. According to legend, the devil piled up the boulders. After stopping in the shelter, the descent is strengthened.

The highest mountain in the national park beckons with alpine-like climbs and scenic highlights. At the lake view we catch a fantastic view from above of the Rachelsee, to which we descend after crossing the summit over partly steep passages. Past the Rachel chapel and Lake Rachel, the route leads through mixed mountain forests, which are among the wildest in the national park.

The cross-border tour leads from the Bavarian Forest National Park to the Šumava National Park. Schwellgraben and Reschbachklause are witnesses of the former wooden trift. In good weather, the Siebensteinkopf offers a distant view of the Alps. Via the Vltava spring it goes to the border town Bučina and back over the border back to the starting point.

On the demanding tour to the Großer Falkenstein (1,315 m), the path leads up through the Höllbachspreng, a wildly romantic landscape with many small waterfalls and original mixed mountain forest. At the Falkenstein summit there is a breathtaking view and just below the cozy stop in the refuge. It goes down over the Ruckowitzschachten and the jungle area Mittelsteighütte.

The demanding day tour leads from Buchenau to the shafts. These former forest-free accommodation for shepherds and their animals are ecologically and culturally important islands in the Bavarian Forest National Park. The path runs in sections on plank paths through mystical moor areas and to the mysterious dark mountain lake. The way back is along the drinking water dam Frauenau.

On this leisurely tour in the monastery felt and large felt complex, it is partly on boardwalks through bogs and forest. We walk in the footsteps of the adder, which is at home here. Along the Great Ohe we continue to the felt forest, which looks very different from most national park forests. Peat pines defy the acidic, nutrient-poor soils.

The path rises steadily along the Sagwasser mountain stream to the Sagwasserklause and further to the Tummelplatz, a former gathering place for shepherds and grazing cattle. A short detour to the hidden boulder Großalmeyer Castle, which forms the highest point of the Hohlstein, will be rewarded with a great view of Lusen and the National Park peaks. Through wild forests it goes back to the starting point.
