All these day tours are mostly flat and therefore perfect for enjoyable cycling for the whole family. The routes are between 27 and 39 miles (44 and 64 kilometers) long and immerse you in a variety of landscapes, which are crossed by the loops of picturesque rivers. You will get to know charming little towns, historic old towns and the most precious treasures of the Münsterland.
Whether historical, scenic or cultural, the varied day tours have something for everyone. On the tour around Münster, for example, you will get to know both the prince-bishop's castle Münster and the castle Hülshoff, the birthplace of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. The beautiful circular tour through the district of Borken begins at the Stadtmuseum Borken. From here you cycle along the Döringbach through the city park and finally out of the city. Across the fields you reach the western tip of Lake Pröbsting on flat paths, where you can take a first break and refresh yourself in the bathing lake on hot days.Through the beautiful Münsterland park landscape you roll on to Rhede. It is worth visiting the Rhed Castle, the imposing Sankt Gudula Church and a stroll through the pretty town center.On the way you pass the edge of the Bochol city park and then cycle comfortably through a rural idyll, which is characterized by hedgerow-lined fields and small forest areas. Behind the Burlo-Vardingholter-Venn nature reserve, which lies on the Dutch border, you can reach Burlo with the Mariengarden monastery. You roll past the monastery lake and shortly afterwards you reach the northern shore of Lake Pröbsting, which you can also explore with rowing or pedal boats.You drive back to Borken along the banks of the Bocholter Aa. The tour starts in the Coesfeld district in the lovely town of Ascheberg. You cycle west from the village and dive into a wonderfully open landscape, which is characterized by wide fields and meadows. This country idyll accompanies you to Lüdinghausen.Here you will find three worth seeing castles in the Münsterland: Vischering Castle, which is one of the most beautiful castles in Germany and houses an interesting museum on the history of the castle, Lüdinghausen Castle and Wolfsberg Castle.After an extensive break in Lüdinghausen you roll on flat paths along the Stever southwards and then turn over the fields to Nordkirchen, another lovely place in the district of Coesfeld. Here you can visit the imposing Nordkirchen Castle, which is well deservedly called "Westphalian Versailles".You then cycle in a loop to Capelle, from where you can make a detour to Westerwinkel Castle. Back in Capelle it is only a few kilometers until you are back in Ascheberg, the starting point of the tour.

Rheine, the second largest city in the Münsterland region, is the starting point for the round trip through the district of Steinfurt. It starts at the Falkenhof Museum. From here you cycle directly to the Ems and follow it. Past the Emswehr we go to the Godine Saltworks. Here you can inhale the healthy flood of salt and take a tour. There are also guided tours in the Bentlage Monastery a few kilometers away and with a little luck you can spot storks that are native to the monastery.Then you cross the Ems and drive on a flat route past wide fields, which are lined with the hedgerows typical of the Münsterland. Via Dreierwalde and Hörstel you can reach Gravenhorst Abbey on the other side of the Mittelland Canal, which, like Bentlage Abbey, is a cultural center of the region.From here you cycle along the Mittelland Canal and then cross it again. Shortly afterwards you will reach the Nasse Dreieck, where the Mittelland Canal meets the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The view of the connection between the two waterways is unique.After you have also crossed the Dortmund-Ems Canal, you will reach Bevergern and a little later the romantic Surenburg. Through small forest and past hedge-lined fields you cycle back towards Rheine. From here you drive on the 100 castles route through a beautiful field and meadow landscape to Herzfeld, where you can visit the Sankt Ida pilgrimage church.Then you cross the Lippe and reach Hovestadt on the other side of the river. Here the moated castle of the same name awaits you with its magical hedge garden.The route now leads you to the ax, which flows in small loops through a wonderful meadow landscape. You follow her west. You cycle from Münster Castle on the 100 castles route northwest out of the city.After you have left the last houses behind you, you will reach Haus Rüschhaus, which was temporarily the home of the writer Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. The starting point of the round tour through the wonderful landscape around Steinfurt begins at the train station in Steinfurt-Burgsteinfurt.From here you cycle through the remarkable old town, past Steinfurt Castle and into the beautiful nature reserve in Bagno. Here the path leads you through picturesque forests, which finally release you into an open field and meadow landscape. On quiet paths you drive through this vast landscape to Horstmar, where you can take a leisurely break and visit the Burgmannshöfe.Then you continue cycling through the open landscape and reach the Vechte. Through the nature reserve of the same name you roll parallel to the river northwards, pass Schöppingen and finally reach the romantic Metelen. The Vechte flows through the middle of the town and gives it a very special charm.Across wide fields and under the shady trees of the Metelener Heide you drive comfortably on an almost flat route back to the starting point in Steinfurt.
The round tour begins at the magnificent Raesfeld Castle and leads you into the center of Raesfeld. Here you turn south and will soon be surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Hohe Mark Nature Park. Large fields and meadows extend to the left and right of the roadside. They are often lined with hedgerows that are typical of the Münsterland.Behind Rhade you will reach the beautiful Lembeck Castle, which is surrounded by a large moat. There is also a café here if you want to fortify yourself with cake.Then it goes north. You cycle past colorful fields to the Frankenhof animal park, where a visit is worthwhile. You will then reach heathen through a peaceful forest. At the latest here you can take an extensive break and stop off comfortably in one of the restaurants or beer gardens.Freshly strengthened, you cycle on flat paths to Borken, where you make a detour to the impressive Gemen Castle. The starting point of the round tour through the heart of the Münsterland is at Gerleve Abbey. After you have looked around in peace, you drive past meadows and fields on a small hill from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the landscape and to Billerbeck.The subsequent descent takes you to Haus Hameren, a former moated castle. Then you continue on a flat route to Billerbeck. It is worth visiting the cathedral, which is one of the most beautiful churches in the region.After you have left Billerbeck again, you cycle a large arc through the rural idyll of the Münsterland park landscape. You will pass the majestic Varlar Castle and roll through magical forests to Coesfeld.After a stroll through the city center, you get back on your bike and ride the last kilometers of the tour, which bring you back to the Gerleve Abbey, the starting point of the tour.
In Ahaus the round tour starts at the baroque castle of the same name, which is surrounded by a large moat. From the castle you cycle through the beautiful modern city center before leaving the city to the west and then half-rounding it in a large arc.North of Ahaus, you can then fully immerse yourself in the attractive Münsterland park landscape, which is characterized by small forest patches and fields and meadows surrounded by hedges. At the bathing lake "Im Donsel" you turn towards Nienborg, which you will reach shortly thereafter. Here you will pass the historic watermill and the high house before immersing yourself in the beautiful nature of the Dinkel meadows.On pleasantly flat paths you roll parallel to the river towards the south until you finally cross the spelled and drive an arch over Asbeck, where you can let the historic center work its magic on you.Afterwards you cycle through a wide, low-gradient landscape via Legden back to Ahaus.
