In this Collection, we show you nine of the most beautiful circular routes that take you to Münsterland’s legendary castles and palaces. All of the Tours are manageable in a day and mostly flat, making them perfect for the whole family. The routes are between 27 and 39 miles (44 and 64 km) long and showcase the variety of the region. You will get to know charming little villages, historic old towns and the most precious treasures to be found in Münsterland.
Whether you prefer history, scenery, culture, or all three, the routes include something for everyone. You can visit the Prince Bishop’s Residence in Münster and the Hülshoff Castle, the birthplace of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. Riding through the Steinfurt area takes you to various monasteries, lakes, and rivers whilst Coesfeld offers three outstanding castles and palaces: Westerwinkel Castle, Nordkirchen Castle and Vischering Castle. All of the routes in this Collection promise wonderful landscapes and, of course, countless palaces and castles.
The beautiful circular tour through the district of Borken begins at the Stadtmuseum Borken. From here you cycle along the Döringbach through the city park and finally out of the city. Across the fields you reach the western tip of Lake Pröbsting on flat paths, where you can take a first break and refresh yourself in the bathing lake on hot days.
The tour starts in the Coesfeld district in the lovely town of Ascheberg. You cycle west from the village and dive into a wonderfully open landscape, which is characterized by wide fields and meadows. This country idyll accompanies you to Lüdinghausen.Here you will find three worth seeing castles in the Münsterland: Vischering Castle, which is one of the most beautiful castles in Germany and houses an interesting museum on the history of the castle, Lüdinghausen Castle and Wolfsberg Castle.

The circular tour through the Warendorf district begins at Liesborn Abbey in Wadersloh-Liesborn. From here you drive on the 100 castles route through a beautiful field and meadow landscape to Herzfeld, where you can visit the Sankt Ida pilgrimage church.Then you cross the Lippe and reach Hovestadt on the other side of the river. Here the moated castle of the same name awaits you with its magical hedge garden.
The round tour begins at the magnificent Raesfeld Castle and leads you into the center of Raesfeld. Here you turn south and will soon be surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Hohe Mark Nature Park. Large fields and meadows extend to the left and right of the roadside. They are often lined with hedgerows that are typical of the Münsterland.
