This is the Official Coast Ride. You pay a nominal fee, and then organize your own housing along the way, and you have snacks and bag transport down the coast of California. Epic to say the least?!WHAT IS COVERED?The cost of the ride covers SAG Vans and Drivers, Pizza at the end of all 3 days, Maps for all 3 days plus pocket size waterproof Turn Sheets, Water Bottle and much more. All riders also benefit from the considerable work done organizing the ride, and lining up sponsors so that riders may receive complimentary nutrition and products on all 3 days, Bike mechanic service, and an amazing experience, refined over nearly 20 years.
** IMPORTANT: THIS RIDE IS NOT EASY. MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO IT. **In years past, dozens of riders under-estimated the difficulty of this ride, and had to get driven home, adding an undue burden to the SAG service. SAG is not a limo service. It is there to help riders and keep people safe. Please make sure your fitness is appropriate. Remember, the ride is:375 miles over 3 days, climbing over 23,000 feet of elevation.
These are long, hard days. The ride is awesome, but it's hard. To learn more:

This was stage 2 of our Coast Ride, but I put it in this Collection because it does showcase more of the amazing Central Coast.
I rode this with two former teammates of mine and Blaize. We ate fish and chips at Ragged Point and finished very bonked in Morro Bay! But... that Big Sur coastline!!!!

The Coast Ride is an annual California tradition, held ever year on MLK Weekend. 3 days down the Coast from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. You chip in some money and your bags are delivered to you at your next destination with snacks on the way. It is a great way to ride with friends and meet new friends!
Ah, the Coast Ride Day 2 is why we ride bikes! We started early out of Monterey and road down the coast through Big Sur. This is some of the most beautiful California Coast line there is. Make sure to stop and take pictures. My favorite lunch stop is at Ragged Point for some fish and chips!
