Freshly rested, you lace up your hiking boots or jump on your bike — and off you go into the wonderful Alpine landscape. You enjoy a spot of lunch at an Alpine hut with a light snack and a cold beer before ending your day by jumping into the refreshing waters of a clear mountain lake. And finally, at sunset, you'll sit tired but satisfied on the terrace while you enjoy a view of the mountains — that's how a holiday must be. If your heart is beating faster now, then you should definitely read on.

We have selected eight fantastic holiday farms and four cozy Alpine huts in Austria, which are perfect starting points for your rides and hikes. Whether you ride your bike along river cycle paths, down mountain bike trails or climb exciting peaks on foot – we've already sourced the right accommodation for everyone, as well as the right base for your Tours.

As an additional delicacy, you will find wonderful bathing lakes, natural pools and outdoor swimming pools around the holiday farms. If a rainy summer's day should make a difference to your planning, no problem either: In leisure pools and thermal baths, you can simply let go and relax in the sauna, steam bath and whirlpool. The next day you start your next adventure with an extra portion of energy.

A total of over 2,400 farms throughout Austria have joined forces to offer first-class guest rooms and holiday apartments under the quality label 'Urlaub am Bauernhof'.   • The Tobharthof stands on lush pastures in the middle of the secluded Gastein Valley - pure alpine idyll. Only a few minutes away from the farm you will find the mountain station of the Fulseck Gipfelbahn. Cozy you float in the gondola up to the summit. At the top you either just enjoy the magnificent view or you start an exciting mountain hike to the neighboring peaks. On hot summer days, a detour to the Gastein bathing lake or to the solar village of Dorfgastein is also worthwhile. Even mountain bikers are not neglected, because on the mountains around the valley, there are varied routes to discover.

    On the Tobharthof you have a total of three rooms with breakfast and six different apartments for self-catering to choose from. Children can also take riding lessons at the farm.

  • The Schmiedsipplhof is located in a uniquely quiet, yet central location amidst beautiful meadows at the foot of the Gosaukamm. Due to its perfect location, the farmhouse is perfect as a base for exciting mountain tours in the Dachstein massif and on the summits of the Gosaukamm. For families, the Hornbahn is particularly beautiful, because around the mountain station on Hornspitz you can expect perfectly developed and pushchair-friendly hiking trails. In addition, on hot summer days, the idyllic Gosausee attracts to a trip with swimming. Mountain bikers cycle on good gravel paths up the surrounding mountains and enjoy the unique panorama from above.

    On the cozy Schmiedsipplhof there is a newly renovated and cozy furnished apartment. On the farm live together with the peasant family numerous chickens, cows, some horses and two friendly donkeys. The cows spend the summer on the alpine pasture. Twice a week they drive up to see what's going on - who wants to come along and see how well the cows on the mountain meadows like it.

  • The children's farm Eggele also bears the nickname Panoramahof. Quite rightly, because the view of the mountains of the Bregenz Forest is simply heavenly.

    On the farm there are two large apartments and two guest rooms. Children romp here on a first-class playground, pet the sheep and dwarf rabbits or groat the ponies Katinka and Jacky.

    The farm Eggele is located directly below the Diedamskopf. Various hiking trails and a cable car lead up to the 2,090 meter high mountain. At the summit, a unique view of the surrounding landscape awaits you. In addition, you can explore the entire valley on long walks.

  • Bauernstube, Canadian Blockbau and Almhütte - these are the three holiday apartments on the Ferienhof Schelchen. And the names do not promise too much: The apartments are lovely, modern and very cozy. From the dreamlike holiday farm you can explore the surroundings on your bike. Above all, the Ybbstal attracts with flat and well-marked bike paths.     The Talhof is located in the middle of Carinthia - the perfect starting point for an active holiday with your bike. From here you can explore the surrounding valleys, cycle to the Ossiachersee or make a really long day trip and circumnavigate the Wörthersee. Also for mountain bikers there are wonderful trails in the surrounding mountain forests and exciting tours to nearby peaks.     For bathing fun, you do not have to climb the bike, the yard has its own swimming lake.   • The cozy Kristemoarhütte is very close to the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, making it an excellent starting point to hike the National Park on your own.
