Exploring Flims in Switzerland – there’s no place like home

Mountain Biking Collection by Gehrig Twins

We have travelled around the world with our mountain bikes and have got to know great trails in incredibly beautiful areas. But no matter where we take our bikes, we’ve come to realise that home is quite simply the best. Every time we ride from Flims, our hometown in the Swiss region of Grisons, our eyes are opened to the wonderful playground that we are lucky to have right on our doorstep. This is why we have put together our favourite trails in this Collection for you. True to the motto “shred local”, these routes will inspire you to explore your own region and, of course, show you the best trails to ride when you visit our homeland. Bring your gravel bike, e-bike, mountain bike or racing bike – welcome to our home!

The MTB XC classic in Flims par excellence and the first of the Tours that can usually be ridden after winter. Here you can expect beautiful single trails with technical, but very well rideable passages. Along the Rhine, expect lots of roots and rocks and If you don't have to put your foot down, you are an absolute boss! ;-)

Attention: on weekends and during the peak season in summer you will meet many hikers here - so please be considerate. The Tour can be extended along the left bank of the river to Ilanz. From there you can go towards Schluein and take the same way back to Flims as in the shorter version. Alternatively, you can take the post bus from Ilanz to Laax or Flims for the way back. In summer, all post buses are fitted with bikeracks.

From Flims you ride via Runca to the Kulinariktrail, mostly on gravel roads through the beautiful forest. The Kulinariktrail is easy to ride uphill. Nevertheless, there are some technical passages where you need some power. But all in all it is a very entertaining climb. You will be rewarded with the descent "Green Valley", which is our absolute local favorite. The single trail winds through the extremely green and mossy forest and ends at the fireplace near Runca.

A lovely road bike Tour from Flims to the Bündner Rhine Valley and back. It leads partly along a cycle path, partly on secondary roads. The Tour includes only a couple of short main road sections where there is no other option.

On this beautiful mountain bike route you can look forward to getting a bit of support from the mountain railway. From Flims valley station get yourself transported up to Naraus. From there you take the high trail over to Segnesboden and via the "Cretan Trail" to the "Greenvalley". Finally the "Runcatrail" takes you back down to the valley.

This is one of our absolute favourite enduro trails! First, take the mountain railway from Laax to the Crap Sogn Gion (interesting name, we know :-)). From there, you will ride up to Crap Masegn this time using your own muscle power. Once you reach the top, take the hiking trail on the right towards Flims. Especially in the upper part the trail is quite blocked, but the further down you go, the more flowy it gets. No need to worry about any exposed danger spots along the trail, just drop your seat and enjoy the descent to the max!
