Bike Touring Collection by Tourismusregion Inn-Salzach

The Upper Bavarian region on the Inn and on the Salzach combines world-famous sights, impressive natural spectacles and idyllic gems. An area full of historical treasures and natural beauties is waiting to be explored by you. For this purpose, a bike path network with a length of 930 miles (1,500 kilometers) was created in the Inn-Salzach region and 24 themed tours were created. They show you the incredible diversity of the region. You cycle through forests and meadows, along rivers, over hills and there is always something to discover along the way: an exciting museum, a shady beer garden or a refreshing bathing lake to cool off.

In this collection, we present ten of the 24 themed tours. You get to know the Inn-Salzach region from your saddle and experience the unique combination of nature and culture: from the longest castle complex in Europe to the Renaissance moated castle, from babbling brooks to idyllic bathing lakes, from quaint inns to lively town squares with colorful facades. The tours are chosen so that there is something for all levels of difficulty and fitness level. So pleasure cyclists and families but also those with sporting ambitions will get their money's worth.

You can reach the starting points of most tours either directly by train or by bike - in just a few minutes from the nearest train station. And although you spend a lot of time in quiet nature, the next inn, a farm café or a restaurant is never far away. In addition, you will be greeted by appealing overnight accommodation with the warm hospitality for which Upper Bavaria is so well known. If you wish, you can stay longer and experience several tours.

The Inn-Salzach region has received the highest award from the ADFC and is certified as a cycling travel region!

You drive comfortably on wonderfully quiet roads through the idyllic, hilly landscape. Again and again you enjoy a magnificent view of the Alps. After 60 kilometers you have returned to Burgkirchen and can refresh yourself in a café or in the outdoor pool directly on the Alz.

The Celts and Romans already settled in the mystical Altötting woodland. And the area has still preserved its originality. You will notice this especially when you cycle on the fertile river banks and through the rolling hills. The tour starts in Reisach. If you arrive by train, the best way to start the round is in Neuötting. From Reisach you drive past fields that are repeatedly interrupted by small sections of forest. In the pretty village of Pleiskirchen, a stop at the Huberwirt is worthwhile, where guests have enjoyed the best Bavarian hospitality for over 400 years.A particularly beautiful section of the stage leads you along the Isen. Take your time to listen to the sound of the river. Shortly before Reisach a juicy slope awaits you in a wonderful setting before you whiz down to your starting point.
