A path that you shouldn't ride with a normal trekking bike.

Boscafé het Hijgend Hert is a household name in the area. In the middle of the Vijlener Forests, it is said, this only mountain hut in the Netherlands. You can go here for excellent food, tasty (large) cakes & pies and an extensive beer list. Het Hijgend Hert is also part of Vijlenerberg Kroegjes Routes, a collection of walking routes through the beautiful hilly landscape of South Limburg in combination with delicious food and drinks. With a bit of rain this can be a difficult descent due to the many muds and because you always lean against the hill a bit.

The Engelenweg is a beautiful gravel climb (or descent) that secretly takes longer than you would think. Easy to cycle with the gravel bike.

At the bottom of the gravel climb Lintjesveldpad (another highlight) you cross the Gulp here. A local stream with a choice of the wet foot path (or cycling through the water) or just get off for the bridge, and then cycle high along the water. Nice variety during every gravel ride.

Brilliant gravel road climb up through here, flanked by fields. Nothing too technical!

Climb from Wijlre towards Eyserbos. Nice passage via bridge over rail and on the last part a steep climb to the top.

Nice piece, pushing hard. After heavy rain, a small stream can sometimes arise.

The mill is the southernmost mill in the Netherlands and the oldest in Limburg.

Look out for the ruts here if you're descending! A really fun one if you're either on a gravel or MTB, just keep an eye out on the trail.

Nice piece of clay between Scheulder and Stokhem. The first part is a bit of a descent as a descent, but if you come from below you can still do great climbing. The rest of the road is descending or climbing without many problems.

Orsbach is a corner that I can wholeheartedly recommend. My tip: on a beautiful evening in spring or autumn you have an hour longer in Orsbach sun than on the other side of the valley in Vaals or Vijlen. In addition, the slope protects you from the north wind. Here you can enjoy an hour of scenery, views and warmth after your working day.

The Route planer took me to this path, which is not suitable for bike touring. The section between Harles and Schiltweg is too damaged and narrow. I had to push the bike. I got a flat tyre in this section. Twice.
