Start riding in Stuttgart – our home by MTB

Mountain Biking Collection by FOCUS Bikes

Why stray into the distance when good things are so close? With this in mind, we at FOCUS Bikes would like to introduce our home trails east of Stuttgart: the Swabian Alb. Here we regularly romp around on weekends or for after-work rounds and also in the off-season, when there is (still) snow in the Alps. We — Mario, Martin and Ben — invite you to our five favorite trails on the Swabian Alb.

You will probably know the name Albstadt from the UCI XC World Series: Every year a race of the Crosscountry World Championship takes place here. It probably won't come as a surprise to you that you will be able to get your money's worth the rest of the year.

But the rest of the Swabian Alb also has a lot to offer: From demanding enduro rounds to cross-country dreams on the hardtail, we have put together our favourite tours for you here.

The Swabian Alb and all our starting points are easily accessible by car or train from Stuttgart, and we recommend that you take enough food and drink with you on all tours, as the Alb is not as well served as the large mountains in the south. Even a bit of tools can't hurt to avoid getting stranded involuntarily.

    Martin - Brand Manager:
"Would I do the lap every week? I do not think so. Could I drive the lap faster? Definitely next time. I think that could describe the little love-hate relationship very well. If you don't always need trail adrenaline, but you want crisp climbs and the most beautiful corners of the Zollernalb, you've come to the right place. And definitely faster the second time. ”
This round is for fit gravel enthusiasts, who are more interested in experiencing nature and the incomparable endorphin high after a hard climb than on technical single trails. You can expect the beautiful cultural landscape of the Zollernalb, dense forests and hidden places that are waiting to be discovered by you.As a reward at the end, a Kneipp pool is also waiting for you - perfect for letting your feet dangle after work.

    Martin - Brand Manager:
“Three of the most beautiful mountains in the Swabian Jura in one tour. I recommend Mössingen as the starting point. From there to Farrenberg and via Öschingen to Rossberg. Enjoy the cake and a view over the Swabian Alb before one of the most beautiful trails in the Alb leads down towards Öschingen.
From there it goes back up to the Alb plateau towards Dreifürstenstein. Here you have a last grand view of the Hohenzollern Castle and it is first steep, then flowy on the final descent down to Mössingen. ”

    Mario - Design Engineer:
“I can only say one thing about this tour: trails, trails, trails. With relatively moderate altitudes to be mastered, you can always let your bike run properly and play with nature.
There are also small highlights such as the cave at Kahlenstein, the view over Geislingen at the Ostlandkreuz and the cozy beer garden at the city park in Geislingen as a perfect break. If you want to spend a great trail day in the Alb, this is the right tour for you.By the way, you can start and end the tour in Geislingen without any problems. It is also easy to travel by train. ”

    Ben - Head of Engineering:
“Beautiful (E-) MTB round on the Swabian Alb with a view of the Glemser reservoir and the Achalm castle. Especially the single trail passage on the edge of the Swabian Alb towards the upper reservoir is absolute fun and flow.
If you want to extend the round, you can start this single trail from the Rossfeld. The round will also inspire you with other single trails such as the Green Hell, the Strawberry Trail or the Daddy's Trail. But watch out for hikers at the weekend. Those who like to have game on their plates should then stop at the Stauseehotel Glems restaurant. From April to October, the Ostbaumuseum in Glems is regularly open for delicious cakes and refreshments on the weekends. ”

    Ben - Head of Engineering:
“If you can't get enough of the region around Glems, you can still let off steam on this tour after the Glemsduro Classic. The altitude difference is manageable at first glance, but at second you will soon notice that the constant up and down as soon as you are on the ridge can be quite demanding.
This tour may not have many downhill sections, but it is an enduro challenge with many technical, flat trails. It's great that there are always good reasons to stop and enjoy the view.Almost all trails can be used in both directions. So if you don't follow the route exactly, but simply pull the detour around the Fohlenhof in the opposite direction, more trail fun will jump out for you. ”
