If you would like to experience the magnificent mountain world around Lech-Zürs from its most beautiful side, then this circular hike is just the thing for you. The dreamlike landscape will reveal a mysterious world of legends and fables as you hike along the Green Ring.

This collection guides you along the Green Ring in three stages. Along the way, you will explore different stations, rest places and art installations that tell tales about the region. Scenic mountains, idyllic valleys and crystal-clear mountain lakes are waiting.

Starting in Lech, take the cable car up to the Ruefikopf, the start point of the Green Ring. Surrounded by a mountain panorama straight from the pages of a picture book, the first stage takes you to Lake Monzabon, through lush alpine pastures, and down to Zürs.

On day two, the turquoise Zürsersee and a spectacular view from the 7,349 feet-high (2,240 m) Madlochjoch await you. You will spend the night in the small town of Zug in the Lech valley.

The third stage takes you high up once again, over the Kriegerhorn summit, to the idyllic Alps where you can enjoy the rustic mountain huts before returning back to Lech.

The Green Ring is easy to walk and requires no prior alpine experience. Although some parts of the second and third stage are quite steep, you can take a break in one of the traditional alpine huts along the way.

To reach Lech, take the bus 91 or 92 from Langen am Arlberg or St. Anton am Arlberg station. You can take the free hiking bus from Zürs or Zug back to the starting point if you just want to do a day hike.

You can find out more about the legends, fables and art along the Green Ring on the following website: You can also get a special hiking map from the tourist information office in Lech. The art and literature project was launched in 2010 and will be expanded in the future.
