We just love bikes. That's why we not only build them but also ride them whenever we can. We really love exploring the beautiful corners of our home, Stuttgart, on two wheels. There’s one area which tempts us back again and again – Freiburg – for its great mountain biking. In the Collection, we show you our favourite trails and spots around the Sun City in the Black Forest, which our employees Max, Fabi and Martin rode on their last visit to Freiburg.
Freiburg is a really beautiful city and the old town alone, with its quaint alleys and cosy places to stop for a bite to eat, makes it worth a visit. But, for mountain bikers, Freiburg has even more to offer. Thanks to Freiburg's bustling biker scene, there are many fantastic trails in the immediate vicinity of the city, which are professionally laid out, well maintained and officially approved for mountain bikers. Trails like the "Canadian" or the "Borderline" have cult status and super fun. You can let off steam on downhill trails and work up a sweat on the ups. The mountains around Freiburg, such as the Rosskopf or Freiburg's local mountain, the Schauinsland, have loads of trails through mystical coniferous forests with magnificent views. Our favourite tours around Freiburg simply offer a successful mixture of everything that makes the Black Forest so special. After a great time on your bike, you can end the day in style with a fresh "Zäpfle" in Freiburg’s beautiful old town.
By the way, it’s very easy to reach Freiburg’s great biking areas as it is well connected to the motorway and by rail. You can travel to Breisgau conveniently by train. Whether you're looking for accommodation directly in the city or prefer to live a bit further out is purely a matter of taste but in any case, there are plenty of choices. If you want to stay longer, there are loads of places to discover on your bike in and around Freiburg such as one of the oldest bike parks in Germany in Todtnau.

"It's not exactly an insider tip, but there are actually few better alternatives for a quick run in the afternoon. It's best to be on the Kybfelsen so that the sun is a little lower over the Vosges, but still offers enough light for the trail. Romantic views combined with trail hits - sounds like a great date! "If time is short, but longing for trails is great - then this tour is made for you. It leads you out of Freiburg and directly up to the Kybfelsen / Schwarzkopf. This is where one of the fantastic trails that Mountainbike Freiburg e.V., in collaboration with hard-working track construction experts from Canada, painstakingly create by hand, begins: the Canadian Trail. On the way you can really feel the Canadian flow: The trail with its fun course and countless fluid curves is just fun. It's like a short vacation in Canada - just outside Freiburg. We promise you: you will be amazed.

“This tour is particularly suitable for E-MTB and large, heterogeneous groups: There is something for everyone - from the trail in the mystical coniferous forest to the magnificent views, this tour from Denzlingen offers a perfect view of the Black Forest. The trails are not too demanding, but always offer incentives for advanced riders. You can indulge in uphill flow on this route with the E-MTB. Simply a successful mix of everything that makes up the Black Forest. ”Denzlingen (as described) or Gundelfingen, where you can start at the train station, are the starting points for this tour. You can get there from Freiburg, including Bike easy, by regional or S-Bahn and save a few kilometers, so that more power remains for the beautiful trails of the tour. If your condition or your battery is in good condition, you can of course start directly in Freiburg and include the boarderline downhill on the way back.

Freiburg is known for its beautiful old town, the beautiful landscape of the Black Forest around it and for the fact that the sun often shines here. All of this makes Freiburg a top area for mountain bikers, but it would only be half as beautiful without the commitment of Mountainbike Freiburg e.V., which has created a unique trail network right outside the city with lots of love, passion and work. And this is exactly what you will get to know on this tour: We will show you all four trails that will always bring a big smile to the faces of our team's mountain bikers when we are out and about in Freiburg. Also included are the "Badishmoonrising Flow Trail", the "Canadian Trail", the new "Baden to the Bone" trail and the Boarderline Downhill. With a length of almost 50 kilometers, this tour is a really nice board, so it is best to plan some time - it is perfect for a long weekend tour. Our tip, if you have less time: Split them into two shorter laps by simply driving the part north or south of the Dreisam individually.

"Anyone who has tried it knows that pump tracks are awesome! You can roll through it and train your driving technique or - if you are already up to it - really go crazy, get faster and faster and use the individual waves as jumps. Usually these pump tracks are built on flat ground and in a rather small area. But what happens if you plan the route much longer and also build a slope? We tell you: the fun only gets bigger! On this tour we take you to the “Jump or Pump Trail” in Königsfeld, which is exactly that: a pump track with a slope. And of course we don't just guide you every now and then - once on site, you can do as many laps as you like and have fun until you run out of strength. In this way, a two-kilometer tour becomes a full-day program if you want to.As seen from Freiburg, the “Jump or Pump Trail” is somewhat outside. By car you are around an hour and 20 minutes away. But it's worth it: there's nothing like it in the area. ”
