When the winter wind blows through the streets and the temperatures are crisply cold, the Berlin and Brandenburg lakes are the perfect places for an extensive nature walk. Warmly wrapped up, you can enjoy the quiet nature here and find out how beautiful the clear winter air can be outside of the city. We have selected ten beautiful lakes around the capital, with which you can go on tour immediately.

From Müggelsee in the east to Tegeler See in the north and Wannsee in the southwest — the great lakes of Berlin show their very best side in winter. Without bathers and water sports enthusiasts, a peaceful silence lies over the water and the adjacent forests seem to recover from the summer. You can take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront and various cafés and inns are the perfect place for a warming break. It is even more natural outside of Berlin: The Liepnitzsee, Straussee and Schwielowsee lakes invite you to take wintery day trips on quiet forest paths with magnificent views of the peaceful waters.

All tours can be easily reached by S-Bahn or Regionalbahn, without scratching windows and refilling frost protection. Just get on the heated train and off you go to Berlin's most beautiful winter lakes.

In times of Corona, our tour suggestions are mainly one thing: inspirations for hikes and bike tours in the near future, when the everyday restrictions are less strict. Please stay healthy, protect yourself and other people. Avoid any unnecessary travel — if the urgent desire for fresh air lures you out on our tours, please observe the distance and hygiene rules. By the way, FFP2 masks are mandatory in the trains and 3G rules apply to the Berlin S-Bahn!

Spandau really doesn't lack one thing: water! The Havel stretches kilometer by kilometer along the westernmost district of Berlin. With this tour we don't just show you the popular banks of the Havel. With the Grimnitz and Südparksee you will discover two picturesque bodies of water in the middle of Spandau, which develop a wonderful flair, especially in winter. If it has been particularly cold for a long time, it is even worthwhile to pack ice skates.
