Even though I've done a number of hikes in the Saarbrücken primeval forest, there is always something new to discover.
First tour since the lockdown with adventure hiking Saarland; a nice tour largely on wild paths through the beautiful Warndt.
Today another hike with adventure hikes Saarland from Landstuhl to the Bismarck Tower, then over the Fleischackerloch to the sequoia trees at Landstuhl, the menhir and finally to the Nanstein castle ruins.
At the end of the weekend a hike with adventure hikes Saarland through the beautiful Bliesgau. It starts at the thermal bath in Rilchingen-Hanweiler. Dogs are not allowed in the Die Moulin de la Blies with museum, therefore no photos, but a visit is worthwhile. The first Sunday of each month is free of charge. Masks are currently mandatory. Sufficient time should be planned for the visit.
An exhausting but beautiful round through the jungle near Saarbrücken. The drought in the Saarland is noticeable, practically all streams are in the jungle
dried up and the water level of the ponds dropped sharply. At the end of the tour, a stop at the Naturfreundehaus Kirschheck is worthwhile.
A nice hike around Altforweiler near Saarlouis. The highlights of the tour are not only the Teufelsburg, but also a small cave in front of it, beautiful flower meadows, and wonderful views of the Saar valley and the Saar polygon. After the hike, a visit to the Maison Creative near the starting point is recommended. A cozy garden, good apple juice and cakes complete a nice day of hiking.
Today made the tour around Herrstein for the second time (see also my tour of October 2nd, 2016). Herrstein is characterized by its medieval town center. The rest of the tour also offers wonderful views of the landscape of the Hundsrück. At the end of the tour, it is worth stopping at the tithe barn.
Today's tour leads from Stennweiler to the outskirts of Ottweiler and back. Start and finish is the "Alte Schule" car park. After the tour, you can stop off at Café Maria, a nostalgic café in Stennweiler. In addition to the rose garden at the end of the hike, the tour is also characterized by two wild sections of the path.
The tour starts and ends at the sports and leisure center at Dillinger Straße 71, 66822 Lebach. There are enough parking spaces. From there it goes first to the center of the Saarland over the Mühlbach Gorge to the Kaltensteinen. A nice tour that also offers many beautiful views.
Today I hiked for the second time to the former Freyming-Merlebach quarry on the German-French border (see also komoot.de/tour/63076700 for the first tour). A successful example of the renaturation of a former mining area. The burning mountain gives a nice impression of how Goethe must have felt when he saw the burning mountain in Sulzbach: the smell of sulfur and hot steam show the activity inside the dump.
The highlight and special incentive of the tour was the sunset at the Betzehuebel and the subsequent hike back to Ottweiler through the night. We could even see a bat.
In overcast, but mostly dry weather, we passed 5 ponds around Ottweiler today. Thanks to the sign-eating trees, animals and beautiful paths, the tour was very varied.
Today a nice hike in the south of Völklingen. There are also beautiful hiking trails in the industrial city of Völklingen. After the hike, it is worth stopping at the Via Veneto ice cream parlor.
Today, despite the rainy weather, hiked a nice alternative to the well-known trails on the Litermont. The Margarethenhöhle is a highlight. The path along the Haiennbach is also beautiful. Unfortunately this one has also run dry at the moment.
Today hiked the Schwarzenberg tower for the second time, for the first tour see komoot.de/tour/99012194. The Schwarzenberg tower offers a wonderful 360-degree view around Saarbrücken.
The last group hike for the time being on the last day of October, which appropriately ended in bright sunshine. Sometimes there were spring fever. A successful alternative to the other routes around the Burning Mountain. It is worth stopping at the Bayrisch Zell restaurant afterwards.
