In the hidden forests between Stockholm, Gothenburg, Värmland, and Dalarna lies a true cycling gem. What was once the cradle of Sweden’s iron industry today forms the Bergslagen region which is incredibly quiet, idyllic, and brimming with great nature.
Over 4,200 kilometres (2,600 miles) of bike routes run through Sweden's largest cycling region – around 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) of which are marked mountain bike routes. In short, Bergslagen is a true paradise with a mix of relics from the early industrial era and wild nature. In this Collection, we present eight varied Tours that provide material for an unforgettable holiday in Sweden.
This Collection was compiled by Swedish locals. You can expect seven lovingly designed day trips as well as one big bikepacking adventure, for which you can easily plan a week and which was scouted especially for this Collection. Most of the routes run on well-marked trails, but have been combined with the knowledge of the locals to create exciting new Tours. The routes are usually designed so that you can ride them on a normal mountain bike. A tight ‘down country’ fully is ideal for the flowy sections. The gravel Tour is a small exception. This route is fun on a mountain bike but also ideal on an unsuspended drop bar gravel bike.
If you want to stay longer and need more ideas for further rides, you don’t have to look far. In the Bergslagen area, there are more than 130 great routes waiting for you. To help you plan in advance, we’ve put together most of the routes and even more Collections here: komoot.de/user/bergslagencycling/tours.
This trail combines three excellent properties: It is technical, physically demanding and it leads through a beautiful landscape. For a long time Tiveden was the most dangerous place in Sweden. The deep forests were packed with robbers and outlaws, the story goes. Nowadays it’s widely known for it’s troll forests. As one of the more popular national parks in Sweden, you won’t feel alone here. But on the bike you’ll be able to reach…

Kvarntorp is a truly unique place, with its man-made ash hill and acres of old quarries and open mines. The ash hill offers the only lift assisted downhill trails currently in the region, and there’s also a conceptual art park on top of the hill. The combination is just as weird as it’s great. Compared…
